Weight Loss And Diabetes – How to Start

In today’s world many more of us are living on a cocktail of unhealthy life style choices. Too many of us are choosing to eat the wrong things, are not eating healthily, do far too little physical activity and suffer from way too much stress.

These issues are the main reason that some complaints are becoming more common, diabetes being one of them. The good news is that if you act now some things can be put right, such as weight loss and diabetes. Most doctors will tell you to lose weight and exercise more, but what few doctors will help you with is finding the best method to do that. Doctors do not seem to want to admit that to put things right is difficult, nor do they warn you that you may fail a few times before you find the right diet and exercise programme combination that is suitable for you personally.

Mention ‘working out’ and most people can only think of the work part. Yes, it is work, but if you can find an activity that you actually enjoy doing you may find yourself actually having fun, the advantage then is that it does not seem like ‘work’ anymore.

Remember when you were a kid and the sheer joy you felt when you would take off in a dead run. Or how free and alive you felt just skipping down your driveway. That same joy can be recaptured if you take the time to find a physical activity that you enjoy doing. One of the main secrets to being successful in your weight loss is to find an exercise that you actually like doing.

Of course getting more physical activity is the first part of the weight loss and diabetes equation. The second part is to make better food choices. Many people hate the word ‘diet’ as the very word creates such negative feelings. People often associate the word diet with eating celery stalks for days on end and starving oneself (which is counter productive anyway). Instead the better way is to improve food choices and lifestyle changes.

Start simple and small. Work out what is you biggest weakness. Too many fizzy drinks, sweets or carbs. Whatever it is use it as a starting point. Do not make the mistake of going cold turkey and cutting out those things from your diet completely. It is unlikely you will succeed if you do this and will suffer the dreaded ‘failure’ Instead just make it a policy of cutting way back on that problem item. If you like fizzy drinks too much then try cutting right back and concentrating on breaking a bad habit. For example, only allow yourself one fizzy drink a day.

Everything is about moderation. Go easy on yourself. Instead of setting yourself up for failure by setting some grand, lofty plan that will be virtually impossible to stick with, give yourself every chance of success. Decide to choose to start with some smaller but much more achievable lifestyle change. It won’t take any longer because the more over ambitious goal will not be achieved anyway. Smaller goals have a much better chance of success, so start there.

Most health issues can be improved or prevented by maintaining a healthy weight and getting exercise. Diabetes is one of those illnesses, weight loss and diabetes reduction go hand in hand.

It is always easier to prevent a problem from happening than to correct a problem once it has occurred. Unfortunately not all cases of obesity can be prevented. When prevention is not possible the best way to correct the problem is to work hard to the best of their ability. Sometimes this can be effective, sometimes it is not. What to eat to lose weight is a question most dieters ask at some point. It is so easy to get confused given the amount of miss-information available.

To lose weight you need to consume fewer calories than you are using. The best way to do this is by a combination of an exercise program with a diet as dieting alone will not have the same results.

Drink your way to weight loss

365 days in year X 150 calories per 12-ounce = 54 750 total calories.



54,750 calories divided by 3,500 calories = 15.6 pounds!

But be careful that you don’t replace these calories with other calories. In other words, you cut calories completely to take full advantage.

Yes, by all means, strive to put less in your plate. Here are a few tips more to keep limited portions so that you can lose the extra weight.

Don’t worry about cleaning your plate. In fact, make a habit of always leave a few bites on your plate. Speaking of your plate, the help of small dishes will give the illusion that there is more food on them. You can even eat on a saucer instead of a large plate. Granted, you will need to fill it a second time, but overall, it is a simple way to limit the amount of food that you eat.

A big problem for many people, it is they eat so fast that they are technically full long before they feel that they are full. Slow down the speed with which you normally eat. Doing so will give your stomach more time to signal the brain that it is full.

The beauty of doing it this way is that you can eat the same food you enjoy now. You must always add more healthy foods, but you do not have to forego all foods if you can keep under control the size of the portions.
